Why is no one speaking out against the butchering of live oaks currently being carried out in Beaufort by SCE&G?
Check it out on Ribaut Road or East Street on The Point. They may be in your neighborhood next.
In a town known for its beautiful trees and historic vistas, why would SCE&G permit some tree company to hack away at and probably ruin whole avenues of live oaks? I understand the need to prune back from the power lines, but surely not this wholesale destruction they are carrying out.
Isn't it time to bury some of the lines? At least in the Historic District? Or is Beaufort fated to become known as the town with the tortured trees? One way or another, I don't believe it has to be this way.
