Letter: Major beach project a good sign for town

Hilton Head IslandI would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Hilton Head Island Mayor David Bennett, the Town Council and director of public projects and facilities Scott Liggett for their foresight, determination, dedication and team effort in bringing our upcoming 2016 beach renourishment project to fruition.

As the first chair of the initial beach renourishment project in 1990 for the Hilton Head Island Board of Realtors, I know it is extremely important to continue this venture that has proven to be so vitally important to the future of our island.

Our beaches are our greatest asset. I think we all will agree that a healthy beach provides improved property values, increased revenue from tourism, improved quality of life and a safe environment for our wildlife.

Enjoy a walk on our beautiful beaches.
