Letter: NRA bears blame for lack of gun change

BeaufortI was very proud of your newspaper for printing the New York Times editorial regarding needed changes in gun laws for the U.S.

As a transplanted Southerner, I have been surprised and amazed at the language of gun owners in South Carolina. The time for change came a long time ago, then it came at Stony Brook, then at Aurora and now again in Oregon.

I blame the National Rifle Association, its lobbyists and executives for changing the meaning of the Second Amendment to their liking.

We know as parents, siblings and grandparents what needs to be accomplished.

Let's do it today, before another child or adult is maimed or killed unnecessarily.
