Letter: Why not call police instead of firing shots?
In a recent item under "Crime Reports," a Burton man sees another man in his car at night, grabs a gun and follows this fleeing person and fires two shots at him ... and no charges are expected to be made against the man who fired the shots?
I thought the procedure was to call the police, and let them handle it and not take the law into your own hands ... unless your life was in danger. This does not appear to have been the case. What if his shot had killed this man? A petty thief who stole $53 worth of goods?
I think the actions of a citizen shooter are of concern, and I'm amazed that your report indicated no investigation or possible charges for the shooter.
