Letter: Why is no one asking about term limits?

Having watched both Republican debates, I have come to the conclusion that the so-called outsiders are leading the pack. We are all fed up with the status quo that is prevalent in Washington on both sides of the aisle.

With congressional approval numbers below 20 percent, can anyone tell me why not one moderator has asked the basic question, "What is your opinion of term limits?"

This simple question at this time could be the springboard to begin the process of having limits to the terms of Congress. It is a difficult task and can happen if these outsiders get on the bandwagon to begin the process.

Another problem with the election system is that it seems that the person with the most money wins. When you have to be in the "first tier" in order to raise ridiculous amounts of money to have a chance to compete, it takes substance out of the equation and brings in influence.

Campaign finance needs to end, period. There is too much influence peddling on every bill that comes before Congress and most of the time the will of the people is ignored, i.e. Affordable Care Act, bailouts to GM, unions, big banks, etc.

At some point in time, we must have the system that was envisioned by our Founding Fathers: the people and the states.
