Letter: Reverse the shame to help the students

The events that led to the hiring of Beaufort County School District Superintendent Jeff Moss' wife not only smells of impropriety, it reeks of it.

It seems the school board members are derelict in their duties for not objecting to his actions.

The idea that the nepotism regulations were altered or changed, without notice, is beyond comprehension. Adding insult to injury, he invented a position that encompasses his wife's credentials and she's supervised by someone who is directly under his supervision.

All on the taxpayers' dime, and without remorse.

All compensation for the position he holds is paid with tax money. Our money. The people are disgusted with those in authority, being paid with taxpayers' money, who deliberately play the system for their own benefit.

Moss has blatantly manipulated the education system. The education money being spent for compensating his wife's new position could better be spent on teachers and supplies for the children in the schools.

As far as I'm concerned, Moss has lost all credibility as a leader and as a public servant. He ought to be ashamed of himself. Looking back at the events above, I doubt if he has the ability to feel shame. Tough luck for the teachers and children of the Beaufort County schools.
