Letter: Nepotism must have new definition here
The definition of nepotism includes the enhanced opportunity of obtaining a job due to influence of relatives or close friends.
Beaufort County School District superintendent Jeff Moss supervises the person directly responsible for hiring his wife. Without saying a word to the subordinate, Moss certainly has applied undue influence on his subordinate's decision by just those facts alone.
If this isn't nepotism, then let's all go back to school and re-write the definition of nepotism.
The timing of Moss' adjustment to our county's school definition of nepotism is certainly questionable as well.
But let's put that all aside. We know this situation isn't going to change because we now have a society where the government runs the government.
I'm just hoping our new school innovation officer will address our new school drug detection and rehabilitation program with her husband at their next dinner. Maybe she can convince him that innovation needs to be tempered with common sense. Common sense being our schools are overly taxed with just delivering good education, and adding drug enforcement to the mix makes no common sense.
