Letter: The Donald' not what GOP needs
'Donald Trump has a huge lead in the polls to become the Republican nominee for president. He speaks of the many frustrations that we all feel with the current Washington leadership, both Democrat and Republican, of which we can all agree. However, if nominated and if elected, how would he govern?
To some degree we still have three branches of government in America, in spite of President Obama's penchant to ignore Congress and to profess that he has the right to do so by executive orders.
Do Americans want another narcissistic egomaniac to replace him?
It is most likely that Republicans will continue to control both the House and Senate. President Trump would have to deal with them in order to accomplish anything. Thus far, he has called them "stupid" and "idiots." Not a good beginning for a new president. It is doubtful that many Democrat or Republican House or Senate members would rush to support his ideas, based on his derogatory comments.
Hopefully, the adults in the room will recognize "The Donald" for what he is: a showman with no experience in governing. He would make a terrible president. To understand this, just listen to what he says. He is a mean-spirited bully. As a bully, he will be ignored by the leaders of the rest of the world.
While I have yet to decide who I will vote for, it will certainly not be "The Donald." I hope you will join me.
