Student must stand for Pledge of Allegiance

When I read the article about the ninth-grade student in the Right Choices Alternative School who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance each morning in class, I was outraged.

I couldn't care less that he is an atheist and objects to saying "under God." I couldn't care less that he doesn't speak the words of the Pledge. But I cannot tolerate his blatant disrespect toward my flag and my country by refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

This is this same country that is providing him with a free and appropriate public education, a ride to and from school each day and possibly free or reduced breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday during the school year.

He should be required to stand and just remain silent. His teacher should be commended for attempting to correct his disrespectful behavior.

It's time for this country to stop all of this political correctness.
