US 278 near The Crescent in Bluffton is the wrong place for apartments

What is wrong with this picture? Residents of The Crescent golf neighborhood should be up in arms about the Beaufort County Planning Commission’s approval of the construction of three apartment buildings near the entrance of their community.

Everyone living in Bluffton should be concerned about this. U.S. 278 passes through the heart of Bluffton and is the gateway to Hilton Head Island. The first and lasting impression of our town by travelers to the island are made as they drive on U.S. 278 toward the bridge.

It seems to me that the Planning Commission should be planning development wisely and with the community’s long-term interest in mind. Common sense should tell them that the Bluffton Parkway area would be better suited for multiple dwellings since there are numerous apartment complexes already there.
