Thank you: For help after fall on ice

Sometimes we forget why we moved to Hilton Head Island. We moved here 31 years ago from Delaware, because we wanted to enjoy being outside all year long. It certainly fulfilled that dream and many others.

Unfortunately, on Saturday, Jan. 6th, while out enjoying warmer weather, I slipped on ice and fractured my hip! My experience then explained “Why HHI?”

A man working close by, Taylor Morrison of Air Control Systems, rushed to pick me up, and held me until the Town of Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue quickly arrived and took me carefully to the the Hilton Head Hospital Emergency Room where the staff treated me with great care. X-rays showed that there was a hip fracture and Dr. Kirk Johnson was called to repair the damage. Surgery and Recovery Rooms were excellent as well as All the staff on the third floor.

Four days later I was transferred to the Preston Health Center for recovery , PT, and OT where the healing is taking place. The Staff, facilities, and food, have been outstanding!!!

The flow of friends has expedited my recovery. The “pin placements” will hopefully reduce a couple of strokes from my golf handicap!

Once again, I have learned “Why Hilton Head Island?”
