This could reduce SC roadside litter
I am a volunteer for Adopt-A-Highway and it gives me great pain to see the amount of trash that accumulates after we make our monthly pickup.
Banning the supermarket plastic bags will help, but more needs to be done.
Wrapping truck loads with thin plastic sheeting needs to be outlawed. The thin plastic shreds and covers the roadside. Heavy tarps need to used.
Trash flies out of the back of pickups to add to the problem.
Then you have the irresponsible citizens who discard the trash from their cars. We as concerned citizens must report these people to the proper authorities.
It would be great to have businesses and more citizens help in keeping our roadsides clean. Volunteers could wear company shirts as advertisements to show that the businesses are helping their community.
Citizens along roads could help in cleaning the area in front of their homes.
Let’s all work together to help clean up and keep that “Palmetto Pride.”
