Get involved with Lowcountry jewel in Ridgeland
There is a small, yet growing treasure in the midst of our beautiful Lowcountry. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that is unique, fulfilling, and exciting, this is the place. Located in the heart of downtown Ridgeland, the Daniel O. Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage is a learning and exhibition center dedicated to preserving and cultivating the history, culture, and spirit of Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties.
Housed in a collection of vintage buildings, with the architecturally distinctive Sinclair service station as its focal point, the center features ever-changing exhibitions, and interactive and dynamic programs.
Volunteering at the Morris Center has kept me growing and learning in my retirement years. Not only do I give support “behind the scenes,” but I actively participate in the variety of programs offered. Learning about Lowcountry flora, fauna, culture, history, the arts, as well as hands-on activities has inspired me to stay involved.
The Morris Center (info@morrisheritagecenter.org; 843-284-9227) — and a unique blend of teachers, craftspeople, and amazing exhibits — offer something for all ages. It is all about building community — and volunteers are a vital part.
