Tell what happens in government shutdown

Government shutdown!

The media is blasting the airwaves with the pending threat of a government shutdown if the Republicans don’t do this or that by week’s end.

What really is a government shutdown?

Who does it affect?

What does it cost taxpayers?

The media haven’t answered any of these questions. They have just hyped the threat of a “shutdown.”

One answer: it affects very few. The government workers who are told not to report to work are in essence given an unscheduled paid vacation since whenever they return to work they will be paid for the time off.

I would like someone, perhaps this paper, to explain in detail exactly the ramifications, if any, to the average U.S. citizen of a government shutdown.

Come on, give it a try.
