Urge SC legislature to join Convention of States

For many years now, citizens have been demanding term limits on Congress, and the issue is always ignored. No surprise that Congress refuses to give up the lifetime lavish lifestyle they voted for themselves.

Term limits would be an important check on the rampant corruption currently consuming Washington. Congress will not do anything about it.

But, state legislatures have the power to act against Washington’s abuses of power by calling for an Article V Convention of States to propose constitutional amendments for term and spending limits. This is the only way to get it done.

In the coming weeks, South Carolina’s legislature will vote whether we should join with other states to inform Congress that a Convention of States will propose constitutional amendments.

Former U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, a South Carolina favorite son and one of only two senators to voluntarily impose term limits on himself, was to be in Columbia this week to encourage our legislature to join the Convention of States. DeMint believes that unless the states intervene, the federal government will continue on a course of corruption and disastrous debt.

Needless to say, powerful forces in Washington are using our own taxpayer money to lobby all over South Carolina against a Convention of States. Please take a few moments of your time this week to phone or e-mail your representatives to the state legislature and ask them to join with Jim DeMint and vote in favor of the Convention of States.
