Why is Hilton Head arts venue still a top priority?
Some things seem to have a life of their own. One of them is Mayor David Bennett’s obsession with building a mega arts center on Hilton Head Island.
I have just read his column in a local publication in which he lays out the town’s priorities for 2018. No. 3 on the list is: “Venue Committee. A plan for producing a true community arts center will be developed.”
As I recall, the community, as well as the town’s overpriced consultant, decided last year that a large arts center was not appropriate for the island. How come it is now a top town priority that a plan for one will be developed?
