Letters to the Editor

The humbling humility of man

It seems we are hearing more people say they have had a humbling experience resulting from something they said or did. Lately these are the people who have been accused of sexual harassment or unseemly comments.

Matt Lauer says recent allegations of sexual misconduct have forced him to look at his own flaws, for which he humbly apologizes. Sen. Al Franken continues to apologize for each new allegation of sexual harassment and claims what a humbling experience it has been. Geraldo Rivera humbly apologizes for not sufficiently explaining his position in a recent tweet about sexual harassment.

These three should be reminded of the quote attributed to former Israeli prime minister Golda Meir: “Don’t be humble — you are not that great.”
