George Will wrong to pile on against Roy Moore
George Will addressed in his recent column what he believes to have been a national embarrassment.
Fact: In Alabama at the time Roy Moore was accused of pedophilia in the press against a young woman, the legal age of marriage for a woman was 14.
Fact: The stepson of the woman making the claims against Roy Moore described her as an unreliable source.
Fact: Roy Moore, almost four decades later, is a loving husband, father, and successful career professional.
Fact: Roy Moore was removed from the bench for standing for something important to him, the sanctity of marriage between man and woman, and for not removing the Ten Commandments from a public building built by our forefathers. These are hardly criminal actions that would make an individual unworthy of holding political office, and he suffered consequences.
Opinion: George Will chose to leave the Republican Party because he apparently has a hatred for the current president, who survived myriad debates and a hotly-contested primary. Does he prefer the Democratic National Committee’s method of funding and supporting a chosen individual while discriminating against other candidates?
I would expect a man of his learned position to support “innocence until proven guilty.”
I would also expect him to forgive someone for a purported harassment that allegedly occurred four decades ago and was never proven to have taken place. These claims are over the top and out of control. Thanks for piling on.
