Holiday spirit gets a lift at Lowe’s in Beaufort

In this time of so much negative press, I think people should hear a few positive stories.

I was shopping at Lowe’s and have to admit my holiday spirit meter was pretty low. I was purchasing a gift for my husband. It was very large and bulky and I knew if I took it home there was no way I could hide it.

I purchased a roll of wrapping paper and looked for a roll of tape so I could wrap it in the parking lot. I went to the customer service attendant and she had several people look for the tape, but they were out. I said, “That’s OK, I will just get the tape somewhere else and wrap the package in their parking lot.” She asked, “Why don’t you just use our tape?”

I thanked her and asked if I could just use their counter to wrap the package. Before I knew it, three ladies were helping me wrap the package and one even carried it to my car.

I would like to think this is just the random kindness you expect in Beaufort, but I think there are random acts of kindness all over our country that are never acknowledged. My Christmas wish is that Alexis, Latoya and Rhonda went home feeling good about what they did to help an older customer. I know I will remember their kindness and set that example as what Christmas and customer service is all about. They certainly raised my holiday spirit meter several notches.
