Tell the unbiased, whole story about Israel

Two articles on Jerusalem were re-printed in the Sunday edition of The Island Packet — one from the New York Times, and the other from the Washington Post. Both ignored the new position that the U.S. has taken on Jerusalem — recognizing a reality, while not predetermining the final status. Instead, their reporting continued to use the same outdated terminology and mindset.

President Donald Trump has taken this decision in America’s best interests. It will hopefully break the logjam of the moribund Middle East “peace process.” It will renew the recently lapsed understanding, by both friends and foes of America, that this administration means what it says in respect to foreign relations; that there will be no more fading “red lines.”

Americans deserve a media that provides unbiased news coverage, so that they can better become informed about this, and other, complex issues. In this regard, the mainstream media has failed miserably.

The article reprinted from the Washington Post shows just such blatant bias when it states: “Hamas confirms two of its members were killed …” without ever mentioning that the Israeli strike was a response to missiles launched from Gaza, one landing in a kindergarten playground.

Just such missile strikes from Gaza were preludes to three previous Gaza wars, ignored by the world, until Israel was forced to defend itself. Then we witnessed those crocodile tears for the “unacceptable civilian casualties” that were the inevitable result.

Enough already.
