Suddenly, progressives are deficit hawks?
I find it refreshing to see that all of the local progressive letter writers are suddenly concerned about the national debt.
I can’t recall any of them ever using the “D” word during the eight long years that the Obama administration was more than doubling the debt. We are now pushing $22 trillion and suddenly the progressives are all debt hawks.
I wonder what brought about this great epiphany. Surely it has nothing to do with who is president and what his programs are. Unsustainable borrowing and spending is always a bad thing no matter who is in office, is it not? Oh well, better late than never.
It’s comforting to know that Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and all their local faithful will be holding the Republicans’ feet to the fire on deficit spending. The next thing you know they will be singing the praises of U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford, who is one of the most active defecit hawks in Congress.
Keep up the good work. We fiscal conservatives need all the help we can get.
