Letters to the Editor

GOP tax plan saves me $6,500

In a recent letter to the editor, a gentleman claimed his taxes will go up by $6,000 if the proposed tax reform bill is passed. Following his advice, I recalculated my return and discovered that with the overall lowered tax brackets, I will save over $6,500 on the House version and over $2,500 on the Senate version.

I am like the majority of taxpayers, a middle-income individual with one single-family home. That is a significant stimulus that will help me and others put more money back into the economy.

Another large benefit is that I can now file the short form. No more saving those messy receipts. From my calculations, I contend that the House tax reform bill does benefit the middle income taxpayer.

It’s hard to believe that not one single Democratic Congress person will break ranks and support this plan. The tax plan is for the overall good and must be passed.
