Learn more about coastal island life

Carol Ruckdeschel coauthored a book, “Sea Turtles of the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts of the United States” in 2006. Now she has written another book, “A Natural History of Cumberland Island, Georgia” that describes her research of flora, fauna, geology and ecology on Cumberland Island with references to other Georgia barrier islands.

Carol came to the island many times in the 1960’s but has lived there since the early 1970’s. She has authored or coauthored many research papers throughout her lifetime.

I have known Carol for more than 10 years and when she does a nature tour she can use the common name as I do on my local museum tours, but she can also use the Latin name.

I recommend the book, available through www.mupress.org.
