It’s an accident begging to happen

I am not sure who thinks renting Vespas and/or golf carts on Pope Avenue, of all places, is a good idea.

Obviously, only tourists would rent these and let’s face it, they don’t pay attention to our bike path rules ... or road rules, for that matter. Apparently, to many of our guests, rules don’t apply when they’re here on vacation.

I’ve lived in South Forest Beach and commuted on Pope Avenue for 19 years, so I have a pretty accurate perspective on this. We already have too many, and often fatal, bicycle accidents. A Vespa and golf cart rental venture is an accident — or many accidents — begging to happen.
