The American myths of ‘welfare’

It’s always baffling to read complaints from those who claim the poor of South Carolina will not work because they receive “welfare,” and yet these same folks seem to trust President Donald Trump.

Programs designed to help the poor of South Carolina can be found on the website Benefits.Gov, and I can’t find a single category in South Carolina even close to: “Prefer not to work, send me a check.”

If you know of actual fraud, the Department of Social Services website (dss.sc.gov/about/fraud) allows you to report it.

The part that baffles me is the attitude that the poor are just takers whereas Trump is a smart businessman when he apparently pays no taxes on his income and refuses to show the American public his tax returns.
