What’s to celebrate in Jim Crow symbols?

If you travel today in Italy you will find no historical symbols or public displays of any kind as reminders of that country’s participation in World War II. The reason: they lost the war and came to realize they were on the side of evil in the first place.

In Germany today you won’t see a swastika or any statues of Hitler, no matter how valiantly the Nazi military might have fought for the Third Reich.

Yet, in this country there those who want to remember the most seditious and shameful act in our history. The symbols they are trying to protect were erected by Jim Crow politicians to extend racism for more than 100 years. The Confederacy lost and it was wrong. What’s to celebrate? In Germany and Italy they get it. When will we?
