Tree-cutting decision raises questions
I found your article on the tree removal on North Forest Beach interesting, and it brought another subject to mind.
You had an editorial asking for the Hilton Head Island Town Council to come out in the open regarding their ongoing issue with town manager Steve Riley. What brought the two together as I read the tree article was the comment from Council member David Ames that the tree-cutting issue had been settled, but Riley “reversed the decision.”
Your reporter should have asked what this comment meant. Doesn’t Riley work for the council? Is this really the value add of David Ames? It appears to be a shabby and poorly camouflaged attempt to undermine the good work Steve Riley continues to do for the town.
