Thank you: Expert doctors and prayers

I recently escaped death thanks to two great doctors, Dr. Paul Mitchell, originally from Kentucky, and Dr. Carlos Montenegro, originally from Ecuador, who worked on me in the operating room June 9. Dr. Montenegro used his skills to rescue me from an exploded, infected gall bladder.

I was told had I waited another week, I probably would have died. Also, I might have died with anyone not so skilled, as he has operated 3,000 times.

Dr. Mitchell used a pediatric tube in my tiny throat, so I didn’t know a thing until my dear daughter, Liz Haslund, woke me up with the good news three hours later. “Mom, you made it. It’s all over!”

Lastly, I thank my minister, the Rev. John Miller from the Chapel Without Walls, who came to the hospital and prayed just before I went down, and all those of that church and of St. James Baptist Church, of Toastmasters, La Isla, and Liberal Ladies, who prayed for me. (You can never have too many prayers, right? )

So, I LIVE!! Now that I made it to 79, I want to get back to doing good as soon as I’m able. I thank Beaufort and Jasper counties for well wishes and such good care.
