SC should not penalize hybrid cars

This letter is an appeal to all South Carolina legislators. I am urging you to review your decision to penalize hybrid and electric car drivers for owning said vehicles.

Let me begin by stating that I drive a hybrid.

That said, I pay the same tax per gallon as all other drivers. The fact that I and electric car drivers have chosen to conserve fuel should be an admirable undertaking ...you know, carbon footprint.

Fact is, legislators are offering huge rebates to encourage home owners to go solar for reducing electric usage. Also bicyclists, motorcycle drivers as well as moped drivers use our state roads. Shouldn’t they be made to contribute also? Aren’t you discouraging conservation efforts with what is tantamount to a fine on hybrid vehicles?
