Letter: Do the math on distracted driving
Some facts for our drivers to realize:
Sixty mph equals 88 feet per second.
A driver taking his eyes off the road for 3 seconds travels 264 feet.
Add braking distance and you’ll have traveled more than 300 feet (the length of a football field) in seconds.
Consider tailgating, a longer distraction, driving faster than 60 mph — no wonder we have so many accidents.
