Letter: Don’t forget America of yore
Certainly, there’s a need to keep America and Americans safe from terrorists, however, let’s not forget the America of yore as expressed by Emma Lazarus in her sonnet, “The New Colossus”:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
