Letter: Trump’s team a national shame

An American nightmare is nearly upon us and, as expected, we do have a “basket of deplorables” coming into office. As anyone who reads knows, the incoming president and vice-president could fill the basket by themselves. We will need a much larger basket to squeeze in this group.

Jeff Sessions (attorney general): Strong segregationist who opposed every piece of civil rights legislation.

Mike Flynn (National Security): Fired from last job for being a bully and called “right wing nutty” by Colin Powell.

Mike Pompeo (CIA): Encouraged military to disobey the president (sedition against the government).

Tom Price (Health and Human Services): Opposes rights for LBGT citizens and mandated insurance for contraceptives.

Elaine Chao (Transportation): As Labor Secretary, softened mining regulations leading to the collapse of two mines and many deaths.

Betsy DeVos (Education): No credentials, supporter of for-profit schools and believes teachers are overpaid.

Steve Bannon (advisor): CEO of Breitbart, the leading blog spewing hate and prejudice.

Steve Mnuchin (Treasury): Made millions bilking home owners during the housing crisis.

Wilber Ross (Commerce): Owned the mines in the mining disaster and made millions while miners died.

Ben Carson (HUD): No credentials, lived in public housing, supported with food stamps, welfare/Medicaid, and college loans, but opposes these for others. Paul Ryan has similar experience and views. Hypocrites.

There are more. This should be sufficient to cause those Trump voters to feel ashamed and regret their vote. We once were a caring and giving nation. With Trump, we will be a prejudiced and hating-others nation. Sad.
