Thank you: From Hunger Coalition

South Carolina Childhood Hunger Week was proclaimed by Hilton Head Island Mayor David Bennett the last week in October.

Due to Hurricane Matthew and the elections, this event did not receive much notice.

However, the work of the Hunger Coalition of the Lowcountry and its Backpack Buddies program continues to work toward eradicating hunger on our island.

We could not provide nutritional weekend meals to nutritionally under-served elementary school children, without the support of such local organizations as the Bargain Box, All Saints Garden Tour and St. Francis Thrift. It certainly takes a community to feed children in need.
