Thank you: Battery Creek Dolphins and Young Life

I am proud of the Battery Creek High School football players for their dedication throughout a tumultuous season. Congratulations to them for earning a spot at the regional playoff!

I am even more proud of the BCHS athletes who went to Young Life’s Bible Camp at Thunderbird in Lake Wylie, S.C., immediately after the football game against Ridgeland-Hardeeville. I love that competitive athletes from different schools in South Carolina came together for a common cause: fellowship. Regardless of rivalry status, athletes worked on team-building activities and learned ways to continue to be positive influences. Athletes did not have access to cell phones and were able to spend time interacting with each other face-to-face. This was a positive, weekend experience.

I thank Young Life staff, Ali, Lauren, Jay, and BCHS’s trainer Ms. Kim for making the event possible for our teens. It means a lot that staff members were so dedicated to get the athletes to camp that staff members waited through games at BCHS and Beaufort HS. I thank BCHS’s Coach Berbigler for helping to see our athletes off and wishing them well. I thank BCHS parent Ms. Manigault and her family for providing meals to the athletes before they made their late-night journey to Thunderbird.
