Letter: Work with what you are given

We may not like the outcome of the most recent election but our newly elected president reflects what our psyche and ethos has become. Sometimes it isn’t pleasant to look in the mirror. Trump is just a reflection. He has resonated with a populace that is tired of being used and manipulated by a government that has absolutely no sense of the needs and feelings of its constituents.

Do not whine and demonstrate about the outcome. Work with what you are given.

Trump is neither fish nor fowl. He is not a Democrat and he is not a Republican. He is nationalist. He is crude and unsavory. He has shown a penchant for speaking his mind in an offensive manner. He is certainly not a diplomat.

Trump is an oxymoron. He has a blue color personality with a billionaire’s hubris. He frightens the backroom manipulators because he is untouchable. He has made a mockery out of a media that tries to alter our thought processes through talking heads rather than in reporting facts.

In our nation’s history we have often elected failures to save us and they have succeeded. They also came with baggage and the warts of their day. Admittedly, Trump can probably outdo a toad regarding warts but he, now, is us.

The phrase, “a time for healing” is more than an apology for campaign rhetoric. We as a nation must heal internally before we can even think about being the world leaders we were post World War II.
