Letter: Patriot Guard serves great purpose

I am writing a response to the recent letter about the Patriot Guard Riders.

I am very familiar with the Patriot Guard and what they do to show honor, dignity and respect to our active military and veterans as my sister, who lives in Ohio, is an active member. I feel very strongly that the support that this nationwide organization shows to our military is truly remarkable as it is comprised of all volunteers and, as the letter said, members do not have to be veterans and they do not have to even own a motorcycle to belong.

My sister has shared over the years her experiences of being a member of the Patriot Guard and how they stand in flag lines at military funerals and also do honorable escorts. She joined in memory of our dad, Sgt. Edward Ervin, World War II veteran of the European Theater (now deceased).

It is worth the time it takes to go to the Patriot Guard national website to see how many times each day, across every state, the Patriot Guard is there for the true American heroes who have served, and are serving our country.
