Letter: Looks like Trump was only kidding

I found Sunday’s letters very interesting. What a difference the passage of a few days makes. The letters were written in the flush of victory and point out how an outsider won the day.

Saturday, I read several newspapers outside of the Lowcountry and found out that our man Donald, man of action that he is, is already sitting down with the very insiders he vilified just a week ago.

He apparently has invited lobbyists who do business in Washington to take part in the “transition” to power, charging a $5,000 contribution for the privilege. Does that sound a bit like “pay to play”? I thought so too. K Street is going to love him. He now needs their experience and knowledge.

Apparently, he was only kidding about that wall. Newt Gingrich called it an election device. The list goes on, and includes the ban on Muslims and the repeal of Obamacare. After visiting with the president, he likes some parts of the Affordable Care Act.

These are early days and he may yet deliver on his vile promises as he is known to change his mind based on the last voice he hears on any given topic.

Looks like we may be in for a bumpy ride when his devout followers don’t get jobs, and can’t go back to mining coal or making widgets. I feel bad for them, I really do, because they are people sorely in need of help in the form of retraining, education or relocation instead of empty rhetoric.
