Letter: It’s not over when it’s over
Well, thank goodness, it’s finally over. Well, at least most Republicans think it’s over. Silly “reds.” More than a few “blues” are less than good losers (e.g., see The New York Times’ David Brooks, among others) and continue to stoke ill will wherever they can.
For three-plus months leading up to Nov. 8, I kept looking for some silver lining in the otherwise lamentable performances of both of our candidates. I finally found that lining in being able to introduce our grandchildren to new words they might otherwise not encounter ... until they attend college. There were many: deplorable, misogynist, egregious, quid pro quo, narcissism, dysfunctional and ignominious, to name just a few. I kept searching for one word — just one — with a favorable connotation, but, alas, to no avail.
Now that Trump has succeeded and even been gifted a highly favorable Congress (who’da thunk?), there’s another new word that I suspect our grandkids will become quite familiar with due to its frequent application to Obama’s too-many ludicrous executive orders: rescind.
