Letter: GOP had opening, but blew it

Dear Grand Old Party: you had me with John Kasich. You even had me with Marco Rubio, although maturity became an issue when he decided to lower himself to Trump’s level with the “little hands” charade. As a registered Democrat who grew up in a union household, I am confronted with the dilemma of finding neither Democratic candidate viable. So I would have been yours for the taking, had you nominated even a reasonable candidate.

Instead, you opted to sit back, somewhat smugly I might add, believing the obnoxious, self-absorbed bigot who now carries your banner would somehow disappear like a bad dream. You sat on your hands and did nothing to stop this debacle, and now you are wringing those same hands, wondering how you got here. If we thought ethics and morality were missing from the political scene before, you GOP, have made certain not a trace of either can be found on the political landscape.

You blew it, and history will hold you acc ountable!
