Letter: US cannot afford Clinton

If Chester A. Riley, fictional character of the old TV series “The Life of Riley,” were real and was alive today he would have this to say about our 2016 Presidential election — “what a revolting development this is!”

This election for the most important job in America has two candidates, neither of whom should ever serve in the oval office. On the right we have a billionaire businessman who can’t keep his foot out of his mouth and is often a boisterous braggart. On the left is a habitual liar married to a philandering perjurer. She has broken a federal statute that would condemn an ordinary citizen to prison. Rather than make her fortune by creating something, including jobs, she has used “public service” for a ride to millions. It’s unlikely that we will ever know the full story of the Clinton Foundation, but it’s little more than money laundering that amounts to a pay for play scheme.

I’ve never missed voting in an election nor shall I do so on Nov. 8. With less than total enthusiasm, my selection will be the successful business person who hopefully could use his managerial talents to correct the ongoing mess in Washington. On the other side would be more of the same with an ever mounting national debt and less respect for America throughout the world. Can we afford that? I think not.
