Letter: Trump does not respect others
The words of Donald Trump are offensive to me as a person. His insulting and abusive words regarding women, blacks, Latinos and immigrants are offensive because each person has human dignity. No exception.
In my faith (Christianity), every person has dignity that must be respected if only because they are a human being. No other reason needs to be given to receive the respect of human dignity, even with differences of opinion.
Even with two earned degrees, the world is my classroom and the diversity of people and their opinions are my great teachers.
Every person has something to share, good or bad, and that gives me the opportunity to learn without either of us being any less a person or having any less dignity. Differences of opinion do not destroy personal dignity.
In simple terms, by being open-minded and regarding every person with dignity, each person is a teacher.
I will not vote for Trump because he does not respect each person’s dignity. The day he mocked a physically-challenged journalist because of a difference of opinion was the lowest level any person could stoop, much less a candidate for president expected to be an example.
Trump’s words and actions are a contradiction to my Christian faith regarding all people.
