Letter: Hurricane grumblers amazing
I was amazed at the number of general grumbling, whining and complaining expressed in letters to the editor from unhappy residents of Hilton Head Island.
There was no one left unscathed who served in the capacity of decision-making for the return to the island. One letter writer likened it to Soviet-style government. And you had those who waited in line on the highway to get back to their homes grousing about that.
I have a family member who decided to ride it out in Hilton Head Plantation. He could not even ride his bike the next day and had to climb over trees to walk more than a few feet. Water was a mere trickle.
I just have one question to the unhappy residents: Just how far did you think you would be able to get when U.S. 278 was scattered with fallen trees? Would you have been that much better off to be sitting in line behind a fallen tree?
How about a little gratitude for the officials and workers getting sewage working again and trees cleared instead of acting like spoiled children?
