Letter: ‘Community leaders’ need to lead

The finger-pointing and recriminations ascribed to Hilton Head Island plantation “community leaders” in the front-page story dealing with re-entry are regrettable.

At a time when Hilton Head Island citizens and retailers are showing uncommon courtesy and good will toward fellow islanders, those quoted in the article strike an inappropriate tone and demonstrate poor timing.

Professionals and leaders dealing with matters of emergency management get the immediate job done and wait until an appropriate time to conduct a post-event analysis and plan for improvement. How disappointing.
