Letter: Heritage Lakes threatened again

I live in the Heritage Lakes neighborhood, close to Bluffton Parkway and Malphrus Road. The area is being threatened, again, with total destruction.

We went through this several years ago, when I then wrote a letter to the editor which was followed up with some very perceptive articles by your staff.

Bottom line is that a small group of investors thought that a golf course in the area would be very successful an bring them a substantial return on their investment. Well “Hilton Head National” (in Bluffton, of course) turned out to be a total failure.

So to rescue their investment, these characters decided to turn the property into a disaster with a hotel of a few hundred rooms and accompanying amenities requiring double laning Malphrus Road, which would restrict entry into our own neighborhood whose peace and tranquility would be totally destroyed.

I could go on forever on this, but bottom line is, they goofed and it’s them, not us, who should pay for their mistake.
