Letter: LoCoMotion deserves attention

Congratulations to the 1,600 people who participated in LoCoMotion this past weekend, as well as all the organizers, volunteers and sponsors who helped put this wonderful event on for the fifth year.

Daufuskie Island (Friday), Callawassie Island (Saturday) and Hilton Head Island (Sunday) were a sea of pink as participants walked 10 miles at each location to raise money for local mammograms, breast cancer research and treatment.

We met participants from all over the Southeast and as far away as San Diego. Event participants bring many dollars to Hilton Head, where many of them stay, shop and dine throughout the weekend. Proceeds from LoCoMotion benefit many nonprofit organizations throughout the Lowcountry. We were surprised and disappointed The Packet didn’t mention LoCoMotion in recent editions.
