Letter: Americans, stand as one
Who are Japanese-Americans, African-Americans, Italian-Americans, Muslim-Americans, etc.? There is only one true American and that is the “American Indian,” who gets no respect.
We all had ancestor’s who came from other countries, but they came legally and fought and survived the obstacles that they encountered in making colonies and later the United States.
If we say we are a mixed American we have a little line called a hyphen, which means that we are a divided American. Why? Why should a little line divide “we the people”? If “we the people” do not stand up and unite, our freedom will be destroyed.
My ancestors were German, Irish and proudly Cherokee Indian. But I am an “American,” blood and heart. Let’s stand and heal our country because if we do not, all will be lost.
