Letter: Hilton Head wasting money on fluff
The mayor and Town Council on Hilton Head Island are totally out of control and out of touch with reality when they spend $250,000 on an arts center ploy that would lose on a ballot in the elections coming soon, and then commit $400,000 to a visioning process because they themselves have no vision of reality, or the average islander or island worker and his needs or desires.
How much other intangibles spending is done yearly on this type of what I call “fluff”? The Island Packet should investigate. This would make a good story to compliment the other good recent local stories.
If this money was spent on tangible items such as sewers, road paving, affordable housing, wage supplements or transit operations — among the many better choices — we would all be better served. Or just don’t waste money on fluff like this.
