Letter: School district needs new leaders

To members of the Beaufort County Board of Education:

Superintendent Jeff Moss pleaded guilty to two of the three ethics charges brought against him by the State Ethics Commission. His contract must have a clause that could terminate his service for ethical reasons, but you have given him a pass. Great job, chairman.

You have decided not to take any punitive action against our disgraced superintendent, so it is time for his evaluation, isn’t it? I guess because of his stellar service to the Beaufort County School District you all will be giving him a raise, right? Why not just insult the Beaufort County citizenry some more.

I and many others can’t wait to replace this current school board (only a few need to be replaced) to get us back to a board that is in charge, not the superintendent.

Beaufort County citizens need to make sure they remember to vote in order to correct the insult to our county by this administration.

I will vote “no” on Nov. 8 on the school board’s 1 percent sales tax referendum. I cannot in good conscience give my hard-earned money to a dysfunctional administration. This will be the first time I will be saying “no.” In all previous referendums, I was totally behind the school district.

We are watching you, school board.

Frank Martin Jr.
