Letter: No easy way out of our modern Marxism
It seems to me that we are at the culmination of a century of aggressive progressivism that has moved us from being a republic to being a statist-controlled social democracy. Any way you cut it, the government is too big, and is doing what big governments do — taking care of themselves and ignoring the little people, as is apparent in the actions of both parties.
But, this is all economic because economics is the basis of survival. And Americans are struggling with maintaining expected standards of living in an environment controlled by statists, which is simply a euphemism for modern Marxism.
I believe that people sense that we are at a climax and that there should be and will be major change, with the uneasiness being the unknown of that outcome. Unfortunately, it won’t be without pain, because we let it go far too long to get out easy.
