Fred Washington Jr. best choice for school board

Fred Washington Jr. of Beaufort is the best choice among four candidates in a special election March 28 to fill the District 3 seat on the Beaufort County Board of Education, vacated by now state Rep. Michael Rivers. Washington earned respect previously as school board chairman, and as a member of Beaufort City Council. As the longtime director of the county’s Department of Social Services, he knows the needs of our most vulnerable students as well as efforts to address them.
